AquaSure’s design and construction contractor, Thiess Degrémont, is committed to maximising the involvement of Victorian industry in the project, in line with the Victorian Industry Participation Policy.
One of the largest infrastructure projects in the state’s history, the Victorian Desalination Project will source around $1.3 billion worth of goods and services during construction.
These goods and services range from major contracts to supply water pipes and high voltage power cable, to the regular delivery of hundreds of bread rolls by a local Wonthaggi bakery to the on-site canteen.
Here is a snapshot of some of the Victorian companies supplying goods and services to the Victorian Desalination Project through major contracts:
Preliminary works commissioned by the State Government saw more than $30m in contracts awarded to local companies in the Bass Coast region.
This resulted in increased business to local suppliers through sub-contracts in areas such as road construction, waste services, plumbing, electrical, transport and engineering.
AquaSure's design and construction contractor, Thiess Degrémont, continues to provide increased business opportunities to local suppliers who are able to meet project requirements across a wide range of goods and services.
There is also a considerable flow-on effect, with local businesses enjoying increased demand for goods and services as a direct result of construction of the Victorian Desalination Project.
If you would like to join Thiess Degrémont's team of suppliers, please register with the Victorian Industry Capability Network (ICN).
ICN is the central registry for all suppliers wishing to supply to the project. Over 1800 businesses and individuals have already registered in fields such as plumbing, pipe laying, earthworks, road construction, fencing, concrete, equipment hire and security services.
